Western Lane Community Foundation manages substantial assets, which are
divided into "funds" according to their origin and designated use. Assets that are not
subject to immediate expenditure are invested with the Oregon Community
Foundation according to conservative investment guidelines approved by the Board
of Directors in consultation with the Oregon Community Foundation. WLCF Funds
fall into five categories; designated, undesignated, endowment, scholarship and
pass-through.

Designated funds are funds for which the donor has designated either a particular
entity as recipient or has indicated that they should be awarded by the Board of
Directors to benefit a specific cause, such as disadvnataged youth, abused animals
or literacy.

Undesignated funds are funds which the donor has entrusted to the Board of
Directors for distribution in its discretion within the general guidelines of the
foundation's purpose.

Endowment funds are funds designed to be invested in perpetuity with the earnings
used for a specified agency or purpose.

Scholarship funds are designated for academic scholarships, with or without
further selection criteria.

Fiscal Sponsorship funds are funds established for tax-exempt fundraising for local
projects that fall within the purview of WLCF's mission; such as the Library
Expansion and the Senior Center Building Fund.
